De zeegezichten uit Time and tide – het zijn er bijna 60 ! – gebundeld in een monumentaal fotoboek. Bijzonder aan het boek is dat het uitsluitend uit panorama’s bestaat, panorama’s van verschillende lengte en zo lang dat je de foto’s naar links of naar rechts uit moet vouwen. Sommige panorama’s zijn zelfs zo breed dat uitvouwen naar beide zijden nodig! Door de uitslaanders, zoals die uitvouw-pagina’s heten, kijk je met de fotograaf mee: van links naar rechts op het strand, van de branding van de zee naar de kust in de verte. De vormgeving, verzorgd Els Kerremans (Typography Interiority & Other Serious Matters, Den Haag) maakt het bladeren in het boek tot een belevenis! Naast de foto’s staat er in het boek een prachtig én persoonlijk essay van schrijver en NRC-journalist Hans Steketee. Een korte inleiding van Panorama Mesdag-conservatoren Laura Prins en Suzanne Veldink completeert het boek.
The seascapes from Time and tide – there are almost 60 of them! – are bundled in a monumental photo book. A special book that consists exclusively of panoramas, panoramas of varying lengths and so long that you have to fold the photos out to the left or right. Some panoramas are even so wide that you have to fold them out to both sides!. The fold-out-pages enable you, along with the photographer, to be on the beach and look from left to right, from the breakers in the sea to the coast in the distance. The design by Els Kerremans (Typography Interiority & Other Serious Matters, The Hague), makes browsing through the book an experience! In addition to the photos, the book contains a beautiful and personal essay by writer and NRC journalist Hans Steketee. A short introduction by Panorama Mesdag curators Laura Prins and Suzanne Veldink completes the book.
